Kane, KassCrook, Kwamizzle “The _____ Experiment” [Mixtape]

Partake in a study in hip hop conducted by the likes of Kwamizzle, Kane, and KassCrook!

From Kwamizzle’s DunDemWorld – Hip Hop Blog!

Some said it couldn’t be done. Others said it shouldn’t be done. Well, we did it anyway. “The _____ Experiment” put together by Kane, KassCrook, and Kwamizzle is a audio-social test. Its a test that combines: Hip Hop, rap, poetry, and social commentary into a compilation of dynamic imagery.

From the start of the album, “The_Exp” grabs the listener and exclaims “You may want to sit down first…” with spoken word from Poet (featured throughout the album). The _____ Intro perfectly explains the reason for this musical study, but if you don’t get the picture from that all hope isn’t completely lost. The 3 scientists revisit these main topics of discussion all through the album while still keeping listeners entertained with radio-friendly songs like: We Gone, Maintain Control, and By Any Means. 2 of which feature the vocalist DeSean Moore on the hook/chorus. Unhappy Home, Boondocks Theory, 1 Train Cypher, and Sworn Testimony keep the project well rounded and serve as pivotal transitions in the overall story line.

The 313 Tape

The 313 Tape is the result of three producers (Rick Wild, M. Dixon, and Moebius) getting inspired and putting together a hip hop instrumental tape in one night’s time.

Moebius – Loves Gonna Get You [Beat Tape]

I just recently revisited a project I downloaded a couple months ago from the talented Memphis producer Moebius. Love’s Gonna Get You is a completely instrumental EP that lives somewhere in the realms of experimental hip hop sampledelia. Meobius calls it a “sketchtape”.

KassCrook – Breaking Point 2 [Mixtape]

BREAKING POINT 2

Albany, NY – It’s been a little over a year since the last Breaking Point, KassCrook has reached another level and is ready to present to the world. Overall a much more polished rap artist, KassCrook, displays the confidence of a true veteran. Breaking Point 2 aims to secure KassCrook’s average listener as a core fan, and make them desire more. Features on this project come from HGH’s Intell Hazefield and Kwamizzle, DeSean Moore, Vay Cool of FiF, and also Concrete Kid. Don’t pass on this without giving it an unbiased listen. ~DunDemWorld

AWAR – Keep Risin’ (Produced by Nottz) [Video]

AWAR’s “Keep Risin’” is a universal anthem for the everyday hustle. I had to post this video because I can definitely connect to these lyrics at this point in my life with the studio, the blogs, the businesses, etc.

“…we’re still grinding; got goals to achieve, the drama, the karma, the life I lead…”

Poo Grams – From Hell

Poo Grams is from Newburgh, NY. The same place introduced to me by Ses Da Great as a “hood surrounded by the (Catskill) mountains.” When asked about the project Poo Grams said, “when I say ‘From Hell’… it’s symbolic to where I come from, not only was I living in hell physically, I was in hell mentally.”

I promise you, this project will have you nodding your head to on-point flows over dope beats, while your jiggling brain is fully enlisted into the workings of a very seasoned lyricist.

SES Da Great – Duality Part II: Above & Below

Above & Below is the second installation in SES Da Great‘s Duality mixtape trilogy. SES explores another way to look at man’s dual nature in Above & Below; this time focusing on conflicts within one’s self. Above & Below is the hip hop form of the classic debates of good vs. evil, nature vs. nurture. SES opens up about his struggles with his demons in the past and present, but balances it by discussing some of his victories in other songs. SES Da Great’s display of honesty and complex feelings in Above & Below makes it an instant classic.

L.I.V.E.Wire ft. Joe Budden- Winning (Prod. DG Mayne) [Official Video]

Anticipation for the video of this DG Mayne produced track has been building over the past couple months and now it’s finally here. The Brooklyn MC, L.I.V.E.Wire hits you with his signature machine gun flow and recruits a feature from “One quarter of the Slaughter” Joe Budden over the siren laden, bass-driven beat from 518′s own producer, DG Mayne. Check it out below.

U.S. Bay X Young Henny – Deep Cover

U.S. Bay and Young Henny give you their rendition of Deep Cover. Though I was young when the original song and movie with the same name debuted, this beat always brings me back to that era in the 90′s. Video brought to you by Nellsonline along with Hypeset Productions and Goodfellaz Filmz.

Jaja Gibore – Cupid’s Pistol

Jaja Gibore briefly steps down from “The Home of the Gods” to hand out his thoughts about love on a Deborah’s Son produced track. This Hypeset directed video is a perfect accompaniment to this dynamic cut off of the forthcoming “Home of the Gods” album. Keep an eye out for more work from Jaja Gibore.

Ses Da Great – Duality Pt. 1: Young Man – Old Soul

Artwork by Intell Hazefield

Ses Da Great sets off his thematic mixtape trilogy, Duality, with his first installment, Young Man – Old Soul. In this chapter of Duality, Ses puts his spin on old school flows and uses classic hip hop sampledelic beats as a soundtrack to introduce himself as the “Young man spitting like my hair grey.” Some say wisdom comes with age, but in this project, Ses Da Great shows he’s put in the man-hours to accrue the experience of someone way beyond their years.

The Duality series is a prequel to the album All In. Stay tuned for the next two installments of Duality in coming weeks and then the release of All In following shortly after.

A.T.G. ft. 518 United (Directed by Intell Hazefield)

9 lyricists and a beatboxer on an original beat, directed by Intell Hazefield… nuff said.

From JPlus’ Youtube

Background Info:

Earlier this year, Albany based rap group, Against The Grain, reached out to some of the best writers, rappers, producers, videographers and directors from upstate New York to start an alliance that would ultimately spawn a movement. The end result of which was “You Ought To Know” … a collaborative project which features 10 of the most talented MC’s that the east cost has to offer. The song was recorded in downtown Albany on the very day that Hurricane Irene ravaged the North East. The storm ended up being fitting backdrop for a record that would ultimately change the rules of engagement surrounding hip-hop in the Capital District. The culture of hate and animosity that once plagued the local underground scene has subsequently been replaced with one of unity and camaraderie. And while the competitive spirit of hip-hop lives on, it is now amplified by support and enthusiasm from the diverse MC’s comprising the movement, and the fans that support them. We are 518 United.

“You Ought To Know” by Masai, LR, Knowle’ge, JPlus, B Way, Jaja Gibore, Mike Arson, KwamIzzle, Capitol P, MC Graffiti.

KassCrook – Determination

KassCrook Determination

After his TRUSIC debut, Breaking Point, KassCrook was determined to keep working, determined to continue to grow artistically, and determined to deliver a solid, well-thought-out, quality product with his new mixtape “Determination.” That is exactly what he did with this project. I love the beat selection, concepts, and overall tone of this project.

Jaja Gibore – Journey To The Home Of The Gods

Lyricist Jaja Gibore and music video director Hypeset take you on a behind-the-scenes look, shot documentary style, on Jaja’s completion of his latest project “Home Of The Gods.” This project is going to be a conceptual mixtape loosely based on the gods of Greco-Roman mythology. So far it’s looking and sounding good. No release date yet, but I’m thinking first quarter of 2012.

Eman’s eyes light up as bright as the billboards of the “Big City of Dreams,” in this Michael Dispenza directed video. Coupled with a Will Smith sample, lyrics about his work ethic, and a tight flow, this is definitely a treat for all of you Eman fans.
