King Dreams Nominated For Mixtape Of The Year

I introduced you to Connecticut rapper/producer, King Dreams, back in June when he dropped “If Tomorrow Never Comes.” King Dreams is getting some recognition at the 2011 Connecticut Hip Hop Awards. He is nominated in a couple of categories, but what I’d really like to see him win is Mixtape of the Year.

King Dreams – If Tomorrow Never Comes

King Dreams, the name says a couple of things to me. He wants to be seen as the king of his dreams, or he has dreams of being a king. Either way, the duality of this rapper/producer seems to be a theme that manifests itself multiple times in “If Tomorrow Never Comes”. The mixtape is a compilation of some club songs, radio ready hits, and more emotional tracks, where the club songs will have some lyrics of affection and vulnerability, and the emotional tracks, sprinkled with braggadocio. Overall, a great mixtape with dope production, just in time for the summer.

Mob Muzik at S.O.B.’s sponsored by The Source Mag

Mob Muzik was the featured act for The Source Magazine’s Ghetto Metal show at S.O.B.’s this past Tuesday night. Performing was Mr. Cheeks, Mirk, Chaz Money, and King Dreams.

I’m proud to see artists out of Albany on The Source’s site. I’m even more proud that it’s my family.

All I can think of is the line “Smiles every time my face is up in The Source”.

Mob Muzik Inc.

Mob Muzik Inc. is a joint venture from Powerful Productions and Management (PPM), Mr. Cheeks, and Avid Artist Management, which recently signed a record label deal with IMG/Universal Records.

Right now, the roster includes: rapper – Chaz Money, band – Mirk, and rapper/producer – King Dreams. Expect big things from this team.

MIRK (formerly Mirk and the New Familiars) has been making noise around the 518 for quite some time now with their hip hop, rock, funk style. Here’s “Beautiful Music” from MIRK and Mr. Cheeks. The piano riff on this one reminds me of Jay Z’s “Politics As Usual”.

Chaz Money and King Dreams put their spin on the classic “Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless”.
